What is the team’s approach to concussions and player safety?
Player safety is a top priority for our program. Our strength and conditioning staff incorporates concussion prevention protocols into every workout to help reduce the risk of head injuries. This includes neck strengthening exercises, proper body positioning, and technique training. In addition, all coaches follow strict concussion protocols set by the state and school district, and any player suspected of having a concussion is immediately evaluated and withheld from play until medically cleared.
What equipment does my child need to participate in football?
Players are provided with helmets, shoulder pads, mouth guard, practice and game attire by the team. Athletes should supply their own cleats, girdle, and any other items they feel necessary. Coaches will provide a full list at the start of the season.
When does the football season start, and how long does it last?
Official practices begins August 4th, with the regular season running through the first week of November. Depending on playoff progression, the season could last until the first weekend in December.
How do I register my student for football?
Registration is done through this website, click the registration button at the top and follow the prompts. A completed physical form and academic eligibility are required as well.
Are there any costs to participate?
$20 athletic fee that is submitted to Athletic Director Davis Moore. While most equipment is provided, players may be asked to pay for optional spirit wear and personal items that want. The booster club works to offset costs through fundraising.
How can parents get involved or volunteer?
Parents are encouraged to join the booster club, help with fundraisers, assist with team meals, or help on game days. More information is available under the Booster Club tab.
What is the policy on playing time?
Playing time is determined by coaches based on effort, attitude, practice performance, and game readiness. Every player has a valuable role, whether on the field or in team support.
Are there academic requirements to stay on the team?
Yes. All athletes must meet the school’s academic eligibility guidelines and maintain a 2.0 GPA.
When and where are practices held?
Practices are held after school on Cobourn Field at David M Walker Stadium. The schedule will be posted under the team tab.
What should my child do if they’re injured?
All injuries should be reported to the coaching staff and athletic trainer immediately. The school provides access to athletic training support and will help guide next steps for care and return-to-play protocols.
How do I stay informed about schedules, updates, or cancellations?
Communication is sent through email, text alerts, and team apps. You can also check the football team’s official website and social media channels for updates
Are team meals provided before games?
The booster club organizes team meals on Thursdays before varsity games. Parent volunteers and local sponsors help provide food. Donations are always appreciated! On game day simple snacks and peanut butter and jellies are available.
How are weather delays or cancellations handled?
Coaches and administration follow district safety protocols. Delays and cancellations will be communicated via the team’s messaging system, social media, and the website as soon as possible.
Can my child participate in other sports or activities during football season?
Yes, but it requires good communication between coaches and the student to manage scheduling conflicts. Football is a significant time commitment, so balancing activities must be planned carefully.
What if we don’t have transportation to practices or games?
Please notify the coaching staff. In many cases, carpooling can be arranged with teammates, and the team community is very supportive in helping players get where they need to be.
Is summer conditioning required?
While not mandatory, summer conditioning is highly encouraged. It prepares players physically and mentally for the season and helps with team bonding.
Are there opportunities for fundraising?
Yes! Families and businesses can support the team through field signs, program ads, event sponsorships, and other booster club activities. Fundraising helps reduce player costs and improve the program.
What if my child has never played football before?
No problem! Coaches work with players of all experience levels and focus on skill development, safety, and teamwork. New players are always welcome.
Is football safe for my child?
Safety is a top priority. Coaches are trained in proper tackling techniques, and equipment is inspected regularly. The team also has access to athletic trainers and follows strict concussion and injury protocols.
How can I support the team if I can’t volunteer regularly?
Even small contributions help—sharing social media posts, attending games, donating to fundraisers, or purchasing spirit wear all show your support and help build Bulldog pride.
